With so much divisiveness in the public sphere, it is good to know that we do not need to rely on gritting our teeth as the primary strategy to get through our week and through the upcoming election season. Christians not only make peace differently, we have help -- a person who helps us as we gather.  Sooner or later trouble comes. We avoid it when we can, and when we can't we need to know how to think about it. The Apostle Paul has some serious trouble, and yet he finds a way to rejoice. One of the great things about prayer is that anyone can pray. God is smart enough to sort out the billion prayers coming his way, kind enough to receive an awkward or poorly worded request, and loving enough to act on what we ask -- if it fits with what he knows is best. |
