Welcome to Christchurch!
- We are learning to follow Jesus. Come walk, worship, and study with us!
- We are families and singles from Portland to Gorham, and Freeport to Scarborough.
- We are Anglo, Latino, Sudanese, and Congolese.
- We run the gamut from conservative to liberal, young to old, and beginners to seasoned followers.
- We value children highly, and our most caring, creative people love working with them.
- We are involved locally and globally, knowing that we have been blessed to be a blessing.
What to expect on a Sunday morning...
What to expect when you visit us:
You are welcome here! Maybe the thought of walking into a new church feels intimidating. You'll be OK. Our location gives us plenty of parking, and there's always room for you inside the church building.
What should I wear?
We tend to wear anything from jeans to dresses, shorts to sport coats. We are much more concerned about what is going on in the inside of a person than the clothes they wear on the outside.
What is the music like?
Our music is led from the keyboard by Larry "Flash" Allen, one to three vocalists, and some instrumentalists depending on availability. We sing contemporary praise songs and traditional hymns. We sing well so you don't have to -- unless you want to, of course.
What are the sermons like?
Pastor Mark delivers 20 minute messages that lift up the beauty and power of God's Word. The sermons are aimed toward reshaping our hearts and changing how we think and act in daily life. You see a recent worship service on our Worship page, and can listen to sermons by clicking onto our Audio page.
Do my kids sit with me?
We offer Sunday School groups for all ages during the hour before morning worship. Then everybody is in worship together. It usually lasts 60-75 minutes.
Will I be asked to give money?
We believe generosity is a key part of a healthy community, and it is an important part of who we are. There are opportunities to give, but you won't be leveraged or manipulated to do so.
Will I be bored?
Possibly, but only if you are confused about the difference between entertainment, which is me-centered, and worship, which is God-centered. We work hard to make our time together well-crafted, energetic, honest, and accessible to all. Bored or not is up to you.
What is the overall environment like?
We are homey enough to be welcoming, and formal enough to remind ourselves that one does not saunter into the presence of the living God.
